Ahead of the 2015 general elections, a coalition of stakeholders of
Ariaria International Market and Ward 9 in Aba North Local Government
Area, has expressed support for a All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA)
governorship aspirant, Dr. Alex Otti.
This is coming on the heels of a recent merit award given to him by
members of the National Association of South-East Students for his
outstanding contributions to the development of education in the
country.
The Ariaria Market group, which paid a solidarity visit to Otti in
his Umuru, Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Area recently, said its
decision to endorse him was based on conviction that he would provide
good leadership and address development challenges in Abia if elected.
The leader of the group, Mr. Uche Chukwudi, reminded the governorship
aspirant of his pledge during his official declaration for governorship
that he would create Ministry of Aba Affairs and develop the city to a
level that it would be referred to as the ‘Japan of Africa’. He bemoaned
the state of the commercial city, noting that in place of its former
status of South-East commercial nerve centre, it was currently riddled
with infrastructure decay, filth, industry collapse, abandonment,
over-population and multiple taxation.
“You are well travelled and no doubt, a transformation ambassador of
President Goodluck Jonathan. We believe in your four-point
transformation agenda anchored on agriculture, industry, education and
security.
“Indeed, our search has ended; we are calling on you to lead us to the promise land,” the coalition told Otti.
Responding, the APGA gubernatorial aspirant assured the group of his
commitment to transform Aba into a modern city and an economic hub if
elected governor next year.
