The peaceful manner in which the
All Progressives Congress (APC) conducted its state assembly primary
election in Adamawa State was a pointer to the party’s readiness to win
the state come 2015, North-east zonal vice chairman of the party,
Babachir Lawal, has said.
Reacting to the crisis that trailed the
conduct of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) state assembly primary
poll in the state, Lawal said the PDP was heading for the doom in the
state.
While congratulating winners of the election at the party’s secretariat in Yola, Lawal called on the electorates to reject the PDP and vote the APC come 2015 so that development would be taken to their doorsteps.
He lamented the occupation of large territory in the North-east region by Boko Haram insurgents who turned many into internally displaced persons.
“It is sad that the PDP government has not bothered about the plight of our people,” he said, adding: “No student from Adamawa North will qualify for admission into any university or polytechnic this year.”
He appealed to the APC candidates to form reconciliation committees with a view to consolidating on the unity of the party.
